Question: Why are some of your products non-dairy, but still contain eggs?
Answer: Dairy refers to milk and milk derived products only. The easiest way to remember this is that milk, i.e. dairy, comes from cows, whereas eggs come from chickens.
Question: Why do you have "non-dairy" on the package, but in the ingredients it states it may contain traces of dairy?
Answer: Products designated as "non-dairy" have no diary ingredients used in their production, however the products that do contain dairy are produced on the same machinery. This is an important distinction for those with severe allergies.
Question: What does the "OUD" stand for on the cookies?
Question: Does the "D" in the OUD mark mean there is dairy in the cookies?
Answer: The "OU" part of the kosher mark on our cookies designates that these products, including the facility that they were produced in, are certified by Orthodox Union. Since butter (a dairy product) is in some of our products, the entire facility is designated as a "dairy" facility. Kosher law mandates that everything made on equipment that makes products containing dairy/milk will be designated with the "D", even if there are no dairy/milk ingredients used in that product. This means that many of our non-dairy products will carry the "D" designation even though they contain no dairy ingredients.
Question: What does the "K" on your baking mixes stand for?
Answer: The "K" designates that our products are under Kosher supervision.
Question: Why have you changed the sweetener in some of the Traditional cookies?
Answer: Hurricane Katrina destroyed the plant that made the honey we used in many of our Traditional cookies. In order for us to continue baking these products, we had to make a change quickly, or risk not having them available. Due to customer feedback, it is currently unclear if we will change Traditional cookies back, as most people seem to like the new flavor. For a complete list of sweeteners in our products please visit our "Allergy Information" page.
Question: How should I store the baking mix once I open the bag?
Answer: We recommend storage in an air tight container, like a zippered bag, plastic food container, or fold down the top of the mix bag and seal with a clip. If you do not have a clip, please write to us at info@pamelasproducts.com and tell us you need one. We'll be happy to send you a Pamela's Products bag clip.
Question: Where does your Palm Oil come from?
Answer: Pamela’s Products uses palm oil sourced from Spectrum Organics. Spectrum chose to partner with DAABON Organic, a company committed to being stewards of their community and the planet.
DAABON’s farms are located in the northern Caribbean coast of Columbia on the western slopes of the Santa Marta mountain range. All are certified in accordance with international third party certifying agencies and have obtained social and environmental certification through such organization as S.A. 8000, Eco-Cert, Proforest and Bio Suisse. It’s clear that DAABON is proud of their role in creating a sustainable model for the palm industry.
One reason DAABON is able to make such a large impact on an entire industry is vertical integration. They are the only company in the world that has vertically integrated their palm production from seeder to farming, harvesting, mechanical pressing, physical refinery and finally to end products. By being directly involved in all stages of the process, DAABON is able to ensure not only the quality of their product, but the treatment of their employees and the land.
Pamela’s Products takes great pride in creating foods for those with wheat allergies and gluten intolerance. All ingredients we use are of the highest quality to protect our customers. We have spent our 20 years in business developing strong relationships with reliable ingredient suppliers and we are confident that we offer good food that is safe and will positivity impact the health and well being of our customers.
