As I look at the calendar at the start of this new year, I try to digest that for 30 years this coming April, I have been "The Pamela!" My hair is not quite so dark, and I'm certainly not as thin. I gave birth and have been raising a daughter for 20 years in the middle of the madness of running a company. I am still married through the thick and thin, for the better and the worse of it. I have had many employees, moved many times, have bought more computers and phone systems than I can remember. I own pieces of equipment that I have no idea how they work; the same goes for many of the jobs I no longer have the knowledge to perform. Life was simpler back in 1988 - you answered the phone and took an order on a piece of paper. There were boxes and tape guns, and you took caution not to blister your fingers when wrapping a pallet with stretch wrap. I sold 5 products and introduced a new product once a year. I spent my days doing it all - invoicing, making deposits, picking up ingredients, loading trucks, creating recipes, sourcing and designing packaging, and buying equipment (a forklift is not very different than buying a car; a lease on a building is not much different than a lease on an apartment). I've learned so much about so many things. And through it all, one thing remains: I still love what I do. I still feel passion for the people, the products, the philosophy, and my heritage in this wonderful industry.

The mission I had in 1988 is still what I live by today: Make great-tasting foods that are also gluten free, available to everyone, wherever they shop. I still believe that people want a great chocolate cake - I do. People demand a delicious Mac & Cheese, and I agree that we all should have one. We all want pancakes that smell as good as they taste. I wish for all kids to ask for the Pamela's food your gluten-intolerant child is putting in his mouth, for all adults to argue over who gets the last Pamela's cookie, for my daughter's friends to scream when they get that box of Pamela's bars in the mail, for consumers to still claim they love my food, for my staff to still enjoy being a part of it all, for me to wake up every day thankful for the joy and passion and love this work I have chosen has given back to me. And as I head into my 30th year, I look forward to creating more foods that are exciting and always taste great.
