It's December and my mind floods with memories of traditions that my mom carried out every year, holiday tributes that I now enjoy with my husband and daughter. There must be a tree decorated with ornaments that my mom started buying me when I was a little girl. There must be candles, and stockings over the fireplace, Christmas cards sent out, and cookies made. My mom was always looking for family activities for 4 kids, and making and frosting gingerbread men seemed like the ticket. Dad had brought home a large metal cookie cutter of a non-descript character. Mom wanted them decorated as Santas, and the plan was to wrap them and gift them to our neighbors. I was the sugar-loving child so decorating cookies was right up my alley, and this meant that I also ended up eating most of the cookies, too! My mother recently reminded me that one year I ate all the frosting off of the gingerbread Santas as they sat drying. Give me a break - I was a little girl! Here's to holidays, and family, and traditions, and sharing a gingerbread Santa with someone you love.

Tip from Pamela – Making Pie Dough
Calling all pie enthusiasts! Here's a tip from Pamela to get that photo-worthy pie crust: When mixing the dough, try not to overwork it. It should be crumbly but still be able to be squeezed together between your fingers. Get more pie-making tips here.
